Halloween 2013

This Halloween was a lot of fun because Terry went all out on our costumes. The girls went to a party at the beginning of October when their costumes weren't quite ready so Terry made them these shirts to wear.

For Halloween the girls wanted to be characters from the movie Wreck-it Ralph.

                        Presenting . . . Taffyta Muttonfudge

                                    Vanellope Von Schweetz
 and . . .

Fix-it Felix and his dynamite gal, Sergeant Calhoun
We won the prize for best family costume and my costume won the prize for best individual costume at our ward party. We were all pretty excited. Also it was strange getting so much attention. I guess blondes really do have more fun. On Halloween the girls got to go trick-or-treating with their cousins and they kept up with them a lot better this year. It was a lot more fun now that they are a little older and can do more themselves.

Hope everyone else had a happy Halloween!

Minnie Mouse Birthday for Tato!

I decided Jill's idea to let her kids have big friend birthdays at set intervals was a good one, so I decided 5, 10 and 15 were good intervals. (Any more often than that and I might go crazy) Tato chose Minnie Mouse as her theme which was fun because there are alot of Minnie Mouse Party ideas on Pinterest.

Squee!

Guess who I got to meet tonight!! I'll give you a hint. Best author ever.

Need another clue? This guy right here.

You're right! It's Brandon Sanderson!

He had a book signing at Barnes and Noble tonight. I'm pretty star struck right now considering the Mistborn Trilogy blew my mind. Terry even made me this super cool shirt with the allomantic symbol for tin. Brandon Sanderson is a really genuine and witty guy and Terry and I had a great time. We even got to hear a little sneak peak from the follow up for The Alloy of Law.

An Excuse I Haven't Heard Before

I told Olivia (3) to go clean her room.  She said ok and ran into her room, then a few seconds later she ran back out and said to me, "Mom . . . my room doesn't exist."

Princess Festival 2013

Since the princess thing seemed to be more than just a phase, Grandma L decided to take the girls to the Princess Festival this year.  They got to go on quests, watch a magic show, dance with Tinkerbell, eat snowcones and ride in a horse drawn carriage.  They insisted on sleeping in the Princess Festival shirts that Grandma got for them.  Thanks Grandma!

Halloween 2011

Tato very much wanted to be a princess this year. Olie wanted to be whatever Tato wanted to be.
The girls got to go to the ward Halloween party with Roger and Cassie while Alice and I were celebrating our anniversary.
I had to work on Halloween night so Alice and her mom took the girls to Jill's house to go trick or treating with their cousins. They told me they had a lot of fun.

My First Furniture Redo

I forgot to take a true Before and After. This is as close to before as I could remember to get. It was orange on the inside and black painted over the orange on the outside. This particular piece of furniture was purchased at the DI by my mother to house all her sheet music, and since her piano lives at our house, so does her sheet music. It's been in my house for well over two years and for some reason I suddenly decided I wanted to paint it and cover the shelves, even though I have no knowledge of how to do such a thing. Terry and I spent the next two days sanding, priming, painting and shopping for fabric and a knob to go on the drawer. It was pretty fun to see it go from heap of ugly plywood to something I am excited to have in my home.

Before

After

Now what else can I redo . . .
